A Movie About Doulas Releasing Soon!

We are very excited about a new movie, coming out in June, "Doula!: The Ultimate Birth Companion". This documentary follows doulas as they support parents before, during, and after their babies are born. Clients share their thoughts on their decision to hire a doula, their birth experience, and how they felt afterward about having a doula present. Doulas speak about their work, why they are doulas and what they do.

The word "doula" and our role is more and more known, in many places, certainly in Central Texas. Only a couple years ago, when asked about our work, we'd say we were doulas. We'd receive blank looks, questioning and confused brows, or mistaken assumptions, and then begin our explanations. Now, we see heads nodding, and hear their doula-supported birth story or the stories from family and friends. We hope this movie reaches out to expecting parents who still are unaware of the possibility of a doula, of this support, or do not understand the role of a doula.
